An established care provider in Reading is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join their team, offering high-quality support to young people aged 16 and over. What You’ll Be Doing
As a Support Worker, you will:
Promote independence by supporting young people with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing appointments.
Provide emotional support, building trusting relationships and encouraging positive engagement in social and community activities.
Monitor wellbeing, ensuring young people attend health appointments and take prescribed medication, while reporting any concerns to the appropriate professionals.
Safeguard and protect, following all safeguarding procedures and acting swiftly on any concerns.
Keep accurate records, documenting daily activities, progress and incidents in line with confidentiality and data protection standards.
Respond to crises, offering calm, practical support in challenging situations.
Collaborate with families and professionals, contributing to care plans and attending team meetings.
Engage in training, continuously developing your skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care.
Desirable (but not essential):
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
Previous experience in a care or support role, especially with young people
A valid UK driving licence
Essential Skills & Qualities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, resilience and a genuine passion for helping others
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic understanding of safeguarding and supported living practices
