​An established care provider in Reading is seeking dedicated Support Workers to join their team, offering high-quality support to young people aged 16 and over. What You’ll Be Doing

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Promote independence by supporting young people with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and managing appointments.

  • Provide emotional support, building trusting relationships and encouraging positive engagement in social and community activities.

  • Monitor wellbeing, ensuring young people attend health appointments and take prescribed medication, while reporting any concerns to the appropriate professionals.

  • Safeguard and protect, following all safeguarding procedures and acting swiftly on any concerns.

  • Keep accurate records, documenting daily activities, progress and incidents in line with confidentiality and data protection standards.

  • Respond to crises, offering calm, practical support in challenging situations.

  • Collaborate with families and professionals, contributing to care plans and attending team meetings.

  • Engage in training, continuously developing your skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)

  • Previous experience in a care or support role, especially with young people

  • A valid UK driving licence

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, resilience and a genuine passion for helping others

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and supported living practices
