The Senior Matron – Private Care is a key member of the Private Care Divisional Leadership Team and plays a pivotal role in strengthening and transforming private orthopaedic services.
The post holder will lead clinical and operational delivery across Private Care services, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring efficient, high-quality, patient-centred care. The role focuses on service excellence, clinical standards, governance, patient experience and operational performance.
The Senior Matron will lead nursing and therapy teams within Private Care, drive clinical strategy implementation and deputise for the Managing Director when required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development and delivery of the Private Care clinical services strategy, including improvement and growth initiatives.
Drive transformation in clinical processes, pathways, and ways of working.
Support innovation and service redesign to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
Contribute to divisional and organisational strategic objectives.
Provide visible, credible, and accountable clinical leadership across Private Care services.
Champion high clinical standards and evidence-based practice.
Ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care delivery.
Lead by example to promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Act as a senior clinical leader within the wider Trust leadership community.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and service development.
Work with divisional leaders to deliver high-quality, safe, and responsive services.
Embed consistent clinical and operational standards across Private Care.
Lead and support quality improvement initiatives and change programmes.
Qualifications (Essential)
Registered Nurse with current professional registration.
Postgraduate degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable:
Management or leadership qualification.
Knowledge & Experience (Essential)
Minimum five years’ experience in a senior nursing leadership role within private or independent healthcare services.
Proven track record of successful clinical and operational leadership.
Strong knowledge of current legislative and regulatory frameworks and their application to clinical practice.
Demonstrated success delivering transformation and service improvement programmes.
Experience improving quality, performance, and financial outcomes.
Desirable:
Experience managing complex HR or workforce cases.
