An established private healthcare provider in the East of England is seeking a Team Lead Therapeutic Radiographer to oversee a focused team within its radiotherapy service. This is a senior level opportunity for a radiographer with extensive clinical experience and leadership capabilities. You’ll manage the team within a designated treatment area, such as a linear accelerator and play a key role in delivering high quality radiotherapy services. You’ll also contribute to service development, quality assurance, education and data management across the department.

 

Your Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and supervise a local team delivering external beam and/or sealed source radiotherapy treatments with precision and care.

  • Provide expert guidance on complex imaging and treatment techniques.

  • Oversee treatment planning, scheduling, dose calculations, and system programming.

  • Conduct and supervise QA procedures, including equipment checks, fault reporting, image review, and in vivo dosimetry.

  • Resolve clinical issues and escalate appropriately to senior radiographers or management.

  • Maintain high standards of technical performance and professional conduct across your team.

  • Support the implementation of new technologies and treatment protocols.

  • Organise daily operations of your treatment area, including staff coordination and patient scheduling.

  • Lead daily QA rota planning and ensure smooth running of equipment and services.

  • Deputise for senior managers when required and contribute to departmental decision-making.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Deliver sensitive, clear information to patients and carers about treatment and side effects.

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, patient-centred care.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues, promoting collaboration between radiotherapy and other clinical departments.

  • Promote a positive team culture and maintain staff morale through effective leadership.

Quality & Data Management

  • Ensure accurate documentation and statistics are maintained in line with departmental policies.

  • Record radiotherapy activity using RTDS and update patient records via ARIA and other systems.

  • Prepare documentation in line with ISO 9000 standards and act as a QA auditor when trained.

  • Participate in incident investigations and ensure timely completion of patient data tasks.

  • Comply with data protection regulations and uphold confidentiality at all times.

Education & Mentorship

  • Participate in CPD and share learning outcomes with your team.

  • Provide clinical education and supervision to apprentices, students, and junior staff.

  • Support induction, training, and competency assessments for new and existing team members.

  • Promote infection control standards and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.

  • Encourage personal and professional development across the team.

Operational Flexibility

  • Adapt working hours to meet departmental needs, including participation in emergency on-call rota.

  • Support service continuity during equipment maintenance or patient rescheduling.

  • Assist other areas when needed to minimise delays and maintain patient flow.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers (Therapy) or BSc (Hons) in Oncology and Radiotherapy Technology (or equivalent)

  • HCPC registration (unrestricted)

  • PGCert or PGDip in Oncology/Radiotherapy (desirable)

Experience

  • Significant post-graduate clinical experience

  • Experience as a senior therapeutic radiographer

  • Strong working knowledge of linear accelerators

  • Experience in CT planning, dosimetry, brachytherapy and review clinics

·         At least 12 months of clinical experience working with Varian TrueBeam Linac systems
