Requirements:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Cardiac surgical specialist skills training should include postgraduate qualifications and a minimum of ILS, ideally ALS.
You will have extensive experience of managing level 1 patients, be accustomed with being the shift Nurse in Charge and have experience in mentoring.
You’ve also got an impressive senior level knowledge and will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in working in your current setting.
You’ll be accountable for leading, motivating, educating and supervising the nursing and multidisciplinary team.
As a Senior Staff Nurse in Cardiac Surgery you will:
Report and investigate clinical incidents and risks, completing all documentation and suggesting potential solutions.
Support the development of clinical cardiac surgical competencies in line with clinical needs, policy recommendations, risk assessments and evidence-based guidelines.
Take on additional responsibilities and extend scope of practice in accordance with patient, clinical and service needs eg. BLS Trainer/Link Practitioner.
Take charge of a shift, co-ordinating and delivering work activities and leading clinical colleagues and students, in accordance with skill mix.
Deputise for Clinical Leader during absence.
