Responsibilities
Prepare theatres, equipment, and instruments, anticipating the needs of surgeons and anaesthetists
Maintain a sterile environment and perform precise surgical counts (instruments, swabs, sharps)
Complete all mandatory surgical checks in line with theatre policy, ensuring full documentation
Scrub for plastic surgery and a range of elective surgical specialties
Communicate clearly and confidently with surgeons, anaesthetists and recovery teams
Act as a patient advocate, raising or escalating any concerns
Contribute to stock management, infection control, theatre audits and efficiency improvements
Support the team in maintaining CQC compliance and upholding best practice
Requirements
Essential
Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration
Post‑registration theatre/perioperative qualification or equivalent experience
Competent in scrubbing for multiple specialties (plastic surgery highly desirable)
ILS trained
Strong understanding of CQC standards and perioperative safety
Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision‑making skills
Ability to complete accurate surgical counts and high‑quality documentation
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Right to work in the UK
Desirable
Experience in plastic/cosmetic surgery
Previous independent sector experience
Mentorship or teaching experience
