Responsibilities
Lead day‑to‑day delivery on a treatment unit (as rostered): supervise radiographers, students, assistant practitioners and care assistants.
Undertake the full radiotherapy pathway, including: CT‑simulation, immobilisation, IGRT/CBCT image review & approval, accurate treatment set‑up, plan checks and record & verify.
Provide the third/final check on plans and treatment parameters; document and escalate any deviations.
Optimise patient experience: obtain/confirm consent, deliver compassionate education and support, monitor side‑effects, and liaise with the wider MDT.
Drive quality: contribute to internal QA, clinical audit, policy/protocol development and service improvement.
Support safe operations: equipment care, incident reporting, IR(ME)R compliance, and adherence to departmental QA and local rules.
Participate in the on‑call/late/Bank Holiday rota as required.
Requirements
HCPC‑registered Therapeutic Radiographer with sustained Band 6 competence.
Strong experience across treatment delivery and CT‑Sim, immobilisation and IGRT (OBI/CBCT) anatomy matching.
Evidence of plan checking/virtual simulation, accurate documentation and safe use of R&V systems.
Proven ability to lead a team on the unit, mentor juniors, and communicate complex, sensitive information to patients and carers.
Up‑to‑date knowledge of IR(ME)R, clinical governance, infection prevention and patient safety.
Desirable
Experience with Varian TrueBeam/Edge, ARIA or MOSAIQ; Eclipse TPS (plan review/virtual sim).
In‑vivo dosimetry, superficial/orthovoltage exposure, mould‑room (thermoplastic masks/orfit), treatment prep.
Participation in service development, audit/QA leadership, and teaching.
Experience supporting research/clinical trials.
Working Pattern
Monday–Friday (core hours), with late cover/on‑call/Bank Holidays as part of rota.
Occasional shift pattern adjustments to support service needs.
