We have an EXCITING opportunity for a sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6 equivalent) to join our client's Oncology-Haematology Outpatients Unit based at an award-winning Cancer Centre in London
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the delivery of high standards of care and service to the patients and to work within a team to provide assessment and evaluation of care.
Use evidence-based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit in all aspects of nursing care.
Act as role model providing leadership to the wider nursing team as well as undertake the role mentor for student nurses and junior staff within the unit.
Participate in appraisal and performance review meetings and assist in the recruitment and retention of staff for the unit.
Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies, and act as deputy in the absence of the Unit Manager & Deputy Manager.
Organise workloads in-line with clinical priorities with the ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team.
Skills & Experience
Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.
UK University accredited Chemotherapy module and/or evidence of competence/SACT Chemo sign-off.
Post registration experience in oncology or in acute medicine.
Experience in the administration of cytotoxic drugs and relevant qualification
Knowledge of oncological conditions and diseases, and knowledgeable of cytotoxic drugs and therapies preferred, as well as the JACIE and CHKS standards and implementing them into clinical practice.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to prioritise workload and dealing with distressing and challenging situations.
