We have an EXCITING opportunity for a sister / Charge Nurse (Band 6 equivalent) to join our client's Oncology-Haematology Outpatients Unit based at an award-winning Cancer Centre in London

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of high standards of care and service to the patients and to work within a team to provide assessment and evaluation of care.

  • Use evidence-based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit in all aspects of nursing care.

  • Act as role model providing leadership to the wider nursing team as well as undertake the role mentor for student nurses and junior staff within the unit.

  • Participate in appraisal and performance review meetings and assist in the recruitment and retention of staff for the unit.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies, and act as deputy in the absence of the Unit Manager & Deputy Manager.

  • Organise workloads in-line with clinical priorities with the ability to work autonomously and also as part of a team.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.

  • UK University accredited Chemotherapy module and/or evidence of competence/SACT Chemo sign-off.

  • Post registration experience in oncology or in acute medicine.

  • Experience in the administration of cytotoxic drugs and relevant qualification

  • Knowledge of oncological conditions and diseases, and knowledgeable of cytotoxic drugs and therapies preferred, as well as the JACIE and CHKS standards and implementing them into clinical practice.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to prioritise workload and dealing with distressing and challenging situations.
