​Are you a Scrub Nurse looking for progression?

If so, we are working with London’s leading charitable hospital who are currently looking for a new Scrub Nurse to join their well-established team working on Plastics, Gynae and ENT. You will work alongside our multi-disciplinary team with some of the most well renowned surgeons in the world. They are an independent charity-based hospital with a history in dating back 160 years!

Nursing at the Hospital has consistently achieved the highest levels of patient satisfaction nationally which they believe is as a result of a strong focus on quality and safety achieved through Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 and teams working very effectively together. The ward which you will be working on has been recently refurbished to an extremely high standard and all rooms are completely to the highest possible specification.

This role would ideally suit an experienced Scrub Nurse / Practitioner who is ready for the next step in their career.

Duties:

  • Carry out planned care for a group of patients with support from senior staff.

  • Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.

  • Assist in performing safe effective care for patients requiring advanced clinical skills.

  • Recognise when changes in patients condition occur and take appropriate action.

  • Assist in carrying out extended roles to ensure best clinical practice.

  • Assist and advise unregistered staff in the delivery of patient care.

  • Assist in the safe transfer of critically ill patients.

  • Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly and appropriately.

  • Undertake nursing procedures.

  • Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Hospital policy.

  • Assist with the management of distressing and emotional situations.

  • Have the knowledge and expertise to act appropriately in emergency situation.

  • Act as the patient’s advocate.

  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.

  • Promote healthy living through health education.

  • Ensure patients referred to appropriate clinical support teams.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with recognised post graduate theatre qualification or equivalent experience or Registered ODP with cert HE/Diploma.

  • Passionate about high quality service delivery and patient care.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience preferably working in both NHS and Private settings.

  • Excellent work ethic.

  • Always be willing to put the patient first.

  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

  • Significant post registration skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge base of theatre practice.

  • Experience in Orthopaedics and Urology.

  • Experience in a wide variety of surgeries

  • Specialist knowledge operating theatre care

  • The ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibility in both written and spoken English. Ability to build a rapport, listen, persuade and negotiate.

  • Flexibility to change shifts when department needs change.

  • Must be able to participate in the on-call rota if required.

  • Able to operate under pressure, cope with setbacks, self-aware.
