As an Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide outstanding patient care across their facilities which includes 5 theatres and 51 beds.
Responsibilities
· You will scrub for Orthopaedic cases, whilst being given the opportunity to scrub for other specialities within the hospital to.
· You will be required to order, and store specialised kits used for these types of surgeries.
· You will keep preference cards for the surgeons and keep these up to date with any changes.
· Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care. This will include:
· Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures.
· Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedure.
· Providing initial emergency care as required.
· Working with members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocols and standards.
· Ensuring that the patient’s comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
· Assemble, check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of surgery prior to use and any faults reported to the Theatre Manager immediately.
Requirements
· You must be a registered nurse or ODP with a valid NMC / HCPC number with no conditions or restrictions
· You must have experience working as a scrub practitioner and experience scrubbing for orthopaedic cases
· Experience in recovery or anaesthetics will be desirable but not essential for this role
· You must have excellent communication skills
