  • RMN Qualification

Paediatric Nurse - Outpatient Department

If so, our client is now recruiting for a Paediatric Nurse - Outpatient Department to join their new hospital in Hemel Hempstead. They are looking for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join their team. 

Our client is opening a new Ambulatory Surgical Unit which is a is a 9 bedded day case ward coming soon. 


  • Registered Children’s Nurse
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Paediatric Immediate Life Support
  • certificate (PILS)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Recent relevant paediatric clinical experience
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues
  • Safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children


  • To act as an advocate for children and their families
  • To recognise verbal and non-verbal cues at a child’s various developmental stages in order to provide basic and specialist care
  • To act as a reference point or source of information and training for non-children’s trained staff members.
  • To undertake a wide range of clinical duties, which could include assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice as follows:
  • Immunisations including travel, seasonal vaccinations, childhood vaccinations
  • Diet/Lifestyle advice for childhood obesity
  • Phlebotomy
  • Performing ECG’s, Spirometry etc.
  • General nursing duties e.g. dressings, etc
  • Chaperoning specialist paediatric consultants within their clinics
  • To provide general and specific health screenings to patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to other clinicians as necessary.
  • To advise patients and/or parents/carers on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary.
  • To assist clinicians as appropriate with their clinics
  • To follow all processes in relation to patient notes and all documentation associated with patient health care and monitor compliance on a regular basis.
  • To ensure compliance with all protocols relating to collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc. and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used.

  • Take an active role in clinical audit on the ward and in the hospital.
  • Actively coach and mentor staff to improve practice on the ward.
  • Take a lead role in working with the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate and effective care plans which meet the physical & emotional needs of the service users in a caring and empathic manner.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join our Clients experienced and dynamic Outpatient team. Working with a wide variety of specialisms you will be able to develop your clinical skills in a modern and supportive environment.

This is a full time position and you will need to be flexible to work shifts between Monday - Sunday

Hours: 37.5 Hours, full time
Patient Type: CAMHS – Eating Disorders/Learning Disabilities 


  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practise.
  • Experience of CAMHS eating disorders desirable


  • Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
  • Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans of all patients on the unit
  • Conduct risk assessment and review regularly
  • Allocate specialist psychological treatments in line with individual need
  • Assess physical health - taking special responsibility for medical issues/medically
  • Supervising and directing the work of other staff who treat the patients.
  • Ensuring effective liaison with referring teams.
  • Facilitating regular CPA review meeting
  • Act as Responsible Clinicians for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • To provide on-call service and ensure the provision of medical cover to the unit at all times.
