Director of Clinical Services

Our client is the largest provider of independent healthcare in the UK. Our client is based in Poole and The Hospital is a 37 bed private hospital with 2 operating theatres and a minor operations room. We provide a range of inpatient, outpatient and day-case specialties, including orthopaedic, spinal, general surgery, gynaecology and plastic surgery. We also have a dedicated Oncology unit including specialist nurses. Diagnostic and specialist equipment on site includes ultrasound, x-ray and Mammography, including a dedicated MRI and CT scanning unit

Requirements

  • Able to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing

Duties

  • Ensuring the hospital complies with CQC, HIS, HIW and all other external regulatory or accreditation requirements such as HFEA, ICO and GRS
  • Actively demonstrating awareness of, and embedding adherence to, regulatory requirements and reporting mandatory outcome occurrences as required
  • Ensuring the hospital complies with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure the effective and safe operation of the organisation and the welfare and interests of patients, employees, Consultants and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and BMI good practice guidance in terms of patient care pathways
  • Co-ordinating and supporting compliance with standards in respect of all legislative training requirements across all clinical services in line with the policy.
  • Ensuring written and electronic records, including patient records and clinical and other data on business systems, and legal documents are maintained to required levels and according to accepted best practice
  • Ensuring action plans and NHS Standard Contract clinical obligations are fulfilled including those relating to the Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) framework

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC pin or currently in the registration process.
  • Health care work generally involves a lot of physical activity e.g. walking, standing, pushing, pulling, helping patients to move and transfer and working with computers (Display).
  • Starting a new job or being newly qualified can add additional pressures so you must have the ability to multitask and absorb knowledge.
  • Previous experience within a clinical environment.
  • Interest in all clinical areas.

Duties:

  • You will need to assess patient care needs and the development and implementation of programmes of patient care and participate in the evaluation of these.
  • You must carry out all relevant forms of care to designated patients and be able to supervise learner nurses and Health Care Support Workers.
  • You must care and control of medication and controlled drugs used for patient care, being aware of the systems used for safe administration, the ordering and maintenance of stock.
  • You would have to ensure work with the Trust/unit and ward policies in order to maintain professional, clinical and patient safety.
  • You must acquire the knowledge and expertise to take appropriate action in emergency situations and for personally attending the mandatory/compulsory update sessions.
  • You must have the in-depth knowledge with practical experience of good hand hygiene and environmental cleaning in conjunction with our client’s trust policies and procedures
  • You need to be aware of the principles of infection control and the prevention of cross infection in relation to patient care and the clinical environment.
  • Important that you are able to communicate basic care information and answer queries to patients, their relatives/carers and the multidisciplinary team members.
