Pre Assessment Lead Nurse

If so, our client is looking for a Pre-Assessment Lead to join their well respcted hospital. They need someone who is keen to come in and hit the ground running. 

This will be a 12 month fixed term covering maternity cover.

Requirements 

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC pin
  • Pre-assessment experience and knowledge is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrate proven experience in a senior, leadership position

  • Be able to work without direct supervision and able to make clinical decisions independently

Duties

  • To efficiently and effectively assess a patients’ suitability for safe admission identifying any anaesthetic risk factors and managing patient expectations of their hospital stay, during the preoperative assessment and discharge home.
  • Collaborating with the medical staff to ensure that the patient is medically cleared for surgery thereby reducing the number of patient cancellations
  • To be responsible for the expert clinical assessment of patients by completing a full medical clerking of patient history and completing in depth physical examination. 
  • To be directly responsible for making complex decisions about next steps based on assessment, clinical presentation and diagnostic results.
  • To give concise, relevant verbal and written reports to ensure effective communication with the General Practitioner, Consultant, Anaesthetist and any other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regarding the outcome of consultations and the necessary follow up required..
  • To ensure, through appropriate delegation to nurses and health care assistants, that evidence-based care is provided to agreed standards within the unit in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
  • To ensure ordering, storage and administration of drugs in accordance with the Drug Policy and the law.
  • To promote and maintain professional confidentiality at all times in accordance with the Data protection Act 1998.
  • Recognises and responds appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Ensure all emergency equipment is fit for purpose and ready to use.
  • To participate in the analysis, assessment and management of actual and potential risks within the unit environment, including responsibility for risk assessments i.e. General, Pregnancy, Clinical, Manual Handling, COSHH.

Pre-Assessment Lead Nurse

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Registered Nurse, to join our team in the nurse-led Pre-Assessment Clinic.

This is a 12-month fixed term position covering maternity leave.

 

Job title: Pre-Assessment Lead Nurse

Salary: £36,000 to £38,850 per year

Hours: 37.5 per week,7.5 hours per day Monday- Friday

Contract Type: Fixed term – 12 months, Maternity Cover

As Pre-Assessment Lead Nurse you will work with patients ensuring they are prepared physically and psychologically for surgery. You will assess a patients’ suitability for safe admission  identifying and acting upon any potential risk factors.

You will act as a clinical expert and a visible role model and provide specialist knowledge, professional leadership and support to staff within the unit.

You will enjoy working as part of a small multidisciplinary team providing an excellent pre-operative service for our patients and surgeons.

Scrub Lead Practitioner - 12 Month Contract

If so, our client is looking for a Scrub Lead Practitioner to join thier brand new hospital. They are looking for experienced, motivated and skilled nurse to come in and hit the ground running. 

Our client is a new hospital which prides themselves with providing outstanding patient care. This client has state of the art facility and execptional environment for their patients. 

Requirements 

  • To provide leadership and day-to-day management of the Scrub/operative service.
  • To actively participate as a practitioner in service delivery and ensure safe, effective and evidence-based care is consistently delivered.
  • To work closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve / maintain an outstanding, patient-focused service.
  • To deputise for the Theatre Manager, as required.

Duties

  • To provide strong clinical leadership to the Scrub and circulating staff by demonstrating professionalism, advanced knowledge and clinical creditability.
  • To ensure all patients are treated with dignity, respect and equality.
  • To ensure operative theatre practice is consistent with national and local standards.
  • To provide advice, guidance and support to Scrub and circulating staff regarding the care and management of patients.
  • To actively assist in the delivery of patient care, during a list or specified periods of time
  • To ensure patients are effectively monitored and that appropriate action is taken to manage any arising complications through contingency planning.
  • To ensure the safe and appropriate storage and administration of medicines to patients.
  • To ensure all patient records and associated documentation is accurate, contemporaneous, complete and processed as per our clients requirements
