Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for individualised patient care of the highest standard.
  • Promote safe practice and professional conduct.
  • Encourage good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the effective care and treatment of patients.
  • Promote research based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit where appropriate.
  • Ensure legibility and accuracy of nursing records and regularly participate in department meetings to enhance team communication.
  • Take responsibility for individualised patient care acting as the named nurse, using the Roper Logan and Tierney model and documentation for the department.
  • Integrated Care Pathways.
  • Ensure legibility and accuracy of nursing records and be aware of the legal implications of these documents.
  • Promote safe practice and professional conduct.
  • Encourage good working relationships within the multidisciplinary team, to ensure the effective care and treatment of patients.
  • To be flexible with regard to staffing, i.e. deputising for Sister/Charge nurse or assisting in other areas or on other floors as required.
  • Participate in the promotion of the department and the Clinic.
  • Regularly participate in department meetings to enhance team communication.
  • Adhere to Clinic guidelines and policies and assist in implementation and review.
  • Be aware of and understand the Clinic Disciplinary and Grievance procedures.
  • Become conversant with the Clinic's patient information system.
  • Become familiar with the content of the department's budget in order to promote effective use of resources at all times.
  • Promote research based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit where appropriate.

Client Requirements 

  • IV Assessed
  • CPR 
  • Moving and Handling
  • NMC Registered
  • Experience in Orthopaedics and/ or Spinal medical setting
  • Caring for Orthopaedic or Spinal surgery patients.
  • Research.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Audits and its processes
