Our client is based at St John's Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London at their private Hospital.

Requirements

  • BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent
  • ALS (desirable) or ILS
  • RCCP registration
  • BSE or equivalent.
  • Experience as independent practitioner in cardiology investigations
  • Experience of assisting in Pacemaker and Implantable Loop recorder implantation.
  • The use of Medtronic, Boston Scientific and St Jude Pacemaker programmers.
  • Able to independently perform and report Adult Transthoracic Echocardiograms.,
  • Experience in assisting with/performing Exercise and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms and bubble and contrast echocardiograms..
  • 24 hour Holter analysis.
  • Able to perform a wide range of non-invasive investigations independently.
  • Understanding of cardiac procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Teaching skills.

Duties

  • You need to participate in cardiac investigations within own skill-base, and have working knowledge of all aspects of all services, including administrative duties. This will include performing tests and providing the reports.
  • You will be expected to act as an independent practitioner without direct supervision.
  • Iportant that you are aware of BSE, SCST and NICE guidelines and to carry out all procedures in accordance with these nationally agreed guidelines and policies of the department and hospital.
  • You must maintain expertise in “cardiac resuscitation procedures” in accordance with agreed and established policies.
  • You are responsible for safe use of complex cardiology testing equipment to ensure patient and personal safety.
  • You need to implement quality controls and assurance in accordance with agreed standards
  • You will be cleaning the cardiology equipment in accordance the hospital infection control policy on the cleaning of bio hazards.
  • You have to perform the full compliment of cardiology investigations without medical supervision and maintain awareness when a result requires further immediate follow up and act accordingly.
  • Important that you manage the pacemaker follow up lists conducting annual reviews, or advised in line with MHRA.
  • You must write technical reports for relevant investigations.
  • You will participate in the development and implementation of policies and protocols within the department of cardiology and in Echo related policies.
  • You need to undertake research and clinical audit in conjunction with the physicians and manager.
  • Vital that you assist the Cardiologist in theatres with DC cardioversions
  • You must work with the Head of Department and Hospital to maintain CHKS accreditation.
  • You need to ensure that the standard of work is maintained the Hospital’s rating with the CQC and help the Hospital achieve an ‘Outstanding’ rating.

One of our top clients is looking for a Clinical Lead for EchoCardiography. The role is aimed at an experienced Cardiac Physiologist specialising in Echocardiography. As a Clinical Lead in Echocardiography, you will be an Echocardiographer with experience in undertaking stress Echo, ideally with the added skill of undertaking exercise treadmill testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide specialist knowledge and expertise for the clinic, to ensure that clinical Echocardiography services are delivered at the highest standards of quality, efficiency and safety   

  • Provide clinical and professional support to the team in the clinical environment through a programme of assessment, mentoring, and training, where appropriate with Echo

  • Provide comprehensive reporting of Echo’s to the medical team 

  • Ensure a high quality of customer satisfaction for the clientele 

  • Support the cardiac team on a day-to-day basis, taking on cardiac stress tests when required in accordance with the BRUCE Protocol

  • Assist colleagues with the day-to-day running of the client’s journey

  • Provide a supportive role for the cardiac physiology team in cover of AL and sickness with regards to exercise treadmill tests

  • Provide support on interpretation and training with the cardiac team and doctors 

  • Design and implement audit projects with the Medical Director 

  • Produce and review standard operating procedures concerning the echo service 

  • Look to introduce and develop a stress echo service and possible introduction of 3D echo

Requirements

 

  • Demonstrable appreciation of patient care

  • Implications of the Data Protection Act, Information Governance Statement of Compliance and Caldicott Principles.

  • Care Quality Commission fundamental standards for health care.

  • Ability to prioritise conflicting demands successfully through developed organisational and time

  • management skills.

  • Developed interpersonal and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication.

  • A demonstrable aptitude towards improving quality. 

  • Computer literacy with accurate data entry skills and attention to detail.

  • BSE registered.

  • Must have up to date theoretical and practical knowledge of Echocardiography and exercise induced stress echo

  • Previous involvement in providing workplace clinical training, supervision and assessment.

  • You must have the ability to demonstrate budgetary awareness.
  • You will work closely with the consultants for the achievement of effective patient management and flow in both services.
  • You must ensure all staff maintain a high standard of service, customer care & to proactively monitor the service provided to consultants & patients alike through audit &feedback.
  • You need to ensure that all clinical and non-clinical policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to the service are regularly reviewed and updated, as required.
  • You must participate in the development of a strategy for Imaging Services Department in line with the hospitals business plan for clinical and nonclinical developments as the local expert.
  • You need to oversee and review as the local expert in the clinical and non-clinical field that the Care Quality Commission regulations governing the operation of an Imaging Services Department, are adhered to by regular audit of the department.
  • Important for you to ensure appropriate clinical and non-clinical staff numbers and relevant skill mix is always on duty.
  • You will be actively involved in the recruitment, selection and induction process of new administrative and clinical staff. Ensure any bank staff engaged to work in the departments are appropriately orientated and that all relevant checks are undertaken prior to commencement of shift.
