Join a leading private hospital in Southend with a recently refurbished theatre environment, cutting-edge technology and a supportive, experienced team. The hospital has 3 theatres, including 2 laminar flow theatres, alongside an endoscopy unit and a 33-bed surgical ward.
Theatres support a wide range of specialties including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Vascular, Plastics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Spinal, Urology and ENT.
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, with no night shifts, giving you the opportunity to progress your career while maintaining a strong work-life balance.

Your Role
As Theatre Team Lead, you will:
Lead and oversee a small team within the theatre department, supported by the Theatre Manager and Deputy Manager.
Provide clinical and managerial leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
Support patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures.
Act as a role model, demonstrating excellent clinical expertise and leadership.
Supervise, teach and support junior RGN and ODP staff, identifying development needs and supporting their progression.
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Operating Department.
Assess patient needs and ensure appropriate perioperative care plans are developed and delivered.
Work closely with the Theatre Administrator to ensure equipment and implants are booked in advance.
Liaise with company representatives to support surgeons and theatre staff when required.
Promote high standards of patient safety, clinical care and service improvement.
What We’re Looking For
You are:
A Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC/HCPC registration.
Experienced in General Surgery Scrub, with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team.
Experienced in leadership or clinical supervision — previous leadership experience is desirable.
Able to manage complex surgical cases and demonstrate strong clinical judgement.
Experienced in ENT, Gynaecology or Urology — desirable.
Ideally hold a Mentorship qualification - desirable.
Passionate about patient care, clinical excellence and service improvement.
Able to demonstrate an understanding of financial budgets — desirable.
