The Role

As a key member of the theatre team, YOU will provide expert assistance across multiple surgical specialties, including:

  • Orthopaedics

  • Gynaecology

  • Urology

  • General Surgery

This is an advanced role where your clinical judgement, precision and leadership directly contribute to outstanding surgical outcomes. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre colleagues to ensure every procedure is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Assist with patient positioning and preparation alongside the surgical team

  • Act as Surgical First Assistant, contributing directly to operative procedures

  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection‑control standards

  • Assist with haemostasis and tissue handling, ensuring optimal tissue viability and healing

  • Ensure all surgical specimens are correctly labelled and safely dispatched

  • Support anaesthetic and surgical teams during procedures

  • Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives

  • Support induction and orientation of new theatre staff

  • Uphold professional, compassionate care for every patient at every stage

The Ideal Candidate

Essential
  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner

  • Experienced Surgical First Assistant

  • Confident working across multiple surgical specialties

  • Highly skilled, organised and calm under pressure

  • Committed to delivering safe, patient‑centred care

Desirable
  • Peri‑operative / Theatre Practice qualification

  • Mentorship or teaching qualification

  • Experience in a private healthcare setting
