Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To provide an x-ray service to the Trust, by producing high quality images.

  • To participate in the out of hour’s service, this includes providing a CT service both within core hours and on call.

  • Take part in the provision of a 24-hour CT and radiographic service.

  • Produce and maintain images of good quality for the diagnostic and treatment process, in accordance with professional, technical and legal standards.

  • Regular exposure to distressing or emotional situations, weekly, e.g., caring for terminally ill and occasional exposure (few times per year) to highly distressing situations e.g., cardiac arrest.

  • Frequent exposure to bodily fluids e.g., blood, urine etc, infection risks and occasional exposure to fleas/lice or intoxicated, aggressive or abusive patients and relatives

  • Your working hours will be 37.5 hours a week – 12 hours a day.


  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of general and trauma plain film imaging, with knowledge of a wide variety of all imaging techniques.

  • Experience of cross-sectional imaging, CT essential.

  • MRI experience.

  • H&S regulations relating to radiation protection (including IRMER(E) regulations).

  • CT knowledge.

  • MRI knowledge.

  • Knowledge of the Radiology Information System, and ability to use it to access and alter patient and examination data.
